From the 6th to the 10th of September 2021, 11 young activists, entrepreneurs, designers and artists took part in a one-week making summer school to explore the future of urban waterscapes in Kortrijk.
The selected participants ideated and prototyped 3 interventions that each reflects on a sub-theme, each one held in collaboration with a social impact enterprise.

of September 2021
The summer school has
been hosted by Bolwerk,
in collaboration with Hangar K
and the network of
Kortrijk’s universities.
Through this hands-on educational experience, participants had the chance to explore different projectual methodologies, crafts and processes by working in a team with mixed expertise and thanks to the coaching sessions and keynotes of a team of experts.
Throughout the week we carried territorial research, ideated on possible interventions, prototyped and tested. With our local partners we’ll investigate their economical sustainability to make a long-lasting impact.
Where ?The participants enjoyed the open space and atelier of Bolwerk, in the Eastern part of Kortrijk. Facing the waterfront, it has been the perfect location to reflect on the challenges that face Kortrijk’s waterscapes.
Expeditions
Through some field trips, the three teams had the opportunity to discover the West-Flemish landscapes.
